There is no single material that makes every gift the best choice. Compare the complete product, how long it will be used and what happens to its individual components afterwards.

Recycled paper and seed paper serve different purposes
Recycled-paper stationery makes use of recovered fibre. Seed paper contains seeds for a planting activity. A product may combine those ideas, but neither description establishes the recycled percentage or plantability of every component. Check what the listing actually specifies, especially for covers, writing pages, coatings and bindings.
Bamboo pens still have writing components
A bamboo barrel brings visible grain and a natural surface to a pen. The refill, mechanism, clip and tip can use other materials. Confirm refill compatibility and ask how those components separate, if at all. For a recipient who writes frequently, writing comfort and a usable refill can matter more than adding another accessory to the gift.
Cork and coconut husk need construction details
A textured cover does not describe the complete notebook underneath it. Ask about backing, binding, page format and care. A cork diary can suit a desk-based gift; a coaster or note pad serves a different use. Check included accessories and dimensions before assuming that a photograph represents everything in the quoted price.
Choose evidence that fits your brief
If your organisation has a procurement requirement, name it clearly and request product-specific documentation. Do not substitute a general environmental story for evidence about composition, certification or disposal. Practical questions are a useful start: will the recipient use this, can consumable parts be replaced, and is the packaging proportionate? Compare alternatives using the same questions rather than ranking materials by appearance.
